The King of T-rexs : Scotty

The King of T-rexs : Scotty

Have you ever thought T-Rex was big, well just meet Scotty. The world`s biggest tyrannosaurus rex ever found. The specimen was estimated at 19,500 pounds when it was alive. The skeleton is only 65% complete! We do have its ribs, leg bones and tail bone. Scotty lived in Canada (eh) 68 million years ago where it was a tropical landscape instead of the cold winter place that is Canada. (eh) We have had the bones of this dinosaur since 1991, but it takes more than a year for paleontologist to get to know a fossil. Just like meeting a new person, but instead it`s a dinosaur. This dinosaur is 900 pounds heavier than Sue. The most complete and used to be biggest T-Rex. But for now the paleontologist are still studying the remains! But I hope someday the remains will go into a museum.

Galleonosaurus: The Australia Dinosaur

Galleonosaurus: The Australia Dinosaur

A new dinosaur species! We have been getting a lot of these recently. Did you know that 90% of all dinosaurs found are after the 90s. Cool Right? But let`s just hop right in!
Gallenosaurus is a new dinosaur found in Australia. It has been indentified form five upper jaw fossils. They found that it has a herbivore, even though it stood on two legs like a carnivore. It could run really fast, to out run predators. It lived around 125 million years ago in the cretaceous period. This is a big deal for Australia paleontologist because the paleontology scene isn`t that big in Australia. Hopefully, more new discoveries change this around.

Cleveland's Museum Of Natural History Review

Cleveland's Museum Of Natural History Review

Our first review of a museum is today! Whoop Whoop. Just before we begin I would like to say we are only reviewing the hall of prehistoric life bit. So, lets jump hop right in!

The Great Battle

The main part of the hall of prehistoric life is a t-rex and a triceratops fighting! This is an amazing display. The skeletons positions really showed the awe of these beasts battling it out! It makes it feel like you`re in the Mesozoic era! It is a really good display!

Beast of the Jurassic

The other big display is one with an allosaurus chasing a haplocanthosaurus. The display is pretty good but there is a problem. The haplocanthosaurus`s tail is dragging on the ground. Now these skeletons were in a corner but they still could have made it going outwards. Otherwise this is a great display

Rating

My final rating is 9 out of 10, because I wish the haplocanthosaurus was more accurate and it should have been a bit bigger.

Spinosauridae - The Fish Eating Dinosaurs

Spinosauridae - The Fish Eating Dinosaurs

Today we are going to be talking about the family of spinosauridae! I find Spinosauridaes so fun to talk about because of how weird they are! We are going to be going over 3 Spinosauridaes. Baryonyx, Suchomimus and Irritator! So, let`s jump right into the Spinosauridaes!

Baryonyx

Baryonyx`s name means "Heavy Claw." It had a claw on its thumb. Baryonyx`s arms were very strong but with its huge claw it could hook fish right out of the water! We have evidence of fish scales found in the body cavity in the fossil. The scales belonged to Lepidotes. Baryonyx was the first dinosaur discovered to eat fish.

Suchomimus

Suchomimus means “crocodile mimic” The long snout was 4 feet long! This was used to eat fish! How do we know this? Because with other Spinosauridae (Baryonyx) we discovered fish scales in them plus with that super long snout its perfect! Though if there is some free meat around, the Suchomimus would eat it!

Irritator

Sometimes discovering dinosaur can be hard. It`s a labor of love. But this dinosaur takes the cake for the most annoying dinosaur to uncover. The skull of Irritator was artificially made longer by illegal fossil hunters! So when the paleontologist discovered this they had to remove it all! Irritator weighted 3 tons and was 21 feet long. But paleontologist aren`t quite sure since they only have one skull to work with.

Moros - The Tiny Tyrannosaur

Moros - The Tiny Tyrannosaur

Hey a new tyrannosaur! Last time I posted about a tyrannosaur was when I first started! So, let`s just jump right in! This Dinosaur is Tyrannosaurus rex`s ancestor, but instead of being the tyrant lizard king this tyrannosaur is more like the prince. Being small and quick on their feet did help this dinosaur survive though. At 96 million years old, Moros is the oldest tyrannosaur ever discovered found in Utah. Even with this new tyrannosaur we still do not know how tyrannosaurs got so big later on. (Ex: Tyrannosaurus Rex) But now that the team that discovered Moros wants to do more research on the same rocks with contains several plant-eating dinosaurs and the giant allosaurus, Siats.
