Tracks Saved From a Flood!

On this blog we usually only talk about the dinosaurs and not the fossils themselves. But today we  are talking about some track fossils. Trails of footprints have been found in Queensland. But there were relocated and were whisked away before a flood would have destroyed them! The tracks date back around 95 million years. Some of the tracks were made by a sauropod, 20 tracks made! The sauropod stood up to 18 meters tall and weighed 30 tones. The area extends 55 meters and only a quarter has been relocated.

Gobiraptor - A new dinosaur discovered

Yes! Two Weeks with new dinosaurs! Woop Woop! Lets jump right in! Gobiraptor is a new oviraptorosaurus from the late Cretaceous which lived in Mongolia! Gobiraptor is apart of a group of bird-like dinosaurs from the Late Cretaceous. Even know we have nearly complete skeletons of oviraptorosaurus from Asia we still don`t know the way these toothless dinosaurs feed. But this new dinosaur has unusual thick jaws. That means that Gobiraptor used a crushing feeding strategy. Probably eating eggs, seeds or hard-shells mollusks. Because of where it was found which has many rivers it means that this dinosaur was well adapted to wet environments.

Saurpods! We all love them! They are the dinosaur the most people think of when you say DINOSAUR! And more are being discovered! Like bajadasaurus. This dinosaur is strange. Beacuse it has spikes on its back! Most likely to defend from attackers! This dinosaur was also discovered in Argentina. Same place were the biggest dinosaur of all time lives!

Microraptor - The world`s smallest dinosaur!

Microraptor is a theropod dinosaurs and its one of the smallest dinosaurs ever! The size of this dinosaur is 1 meter long! Thats really small! One other really cool fact about microraptor is that we know the color of its feathers. we have compared patterns of pigment-containing organelles from the remains of microraptor with modern birds. The scientist working on the task have etermined that the dinosaur`s color was hues of black and blue like the feathers of a crow. The reseach aslo showed that it had a tail fan, which is believed to be a teardrop shaped surface made to help with flight! Thats all for today! see you next week
